SCANTER 1002 - Ground Surveillance Radar - Critical Infrastructure Protection
Terma Radar Systems markets a short-to-medium range critical infrastructure protection surveillance radar capable of 360° search and detection of humans and other small moving objects - the SCANTER Ground Surveillance Radar (GSR).
System Overview
The SCANTER 1002 Ground Surveillance Radar is a short to-medium range surveillance radar, which can be used either as an autonomous radar or as part of an integrated network of sensors. It comprises a high-resolution radar sensor, a processing hardware unit, rotating mechanics, and IP connection. Moreover, it connects with other sensors such as video cameras, infrared sensors, etc.
Main Capabilities
SCANTER 1002 is based on High-Resolution Doppler Technology. It allows operation under adverse weather conditions such as rain, fog, dust, snow, etc.
It generates tracks with very low probability of false alarms and provides for discrimination between various intrusions, even in complex environments with many obstacles.
Area Surveillance
Terma is in the market with a cost-efficient radar for surveying areas of high sensitivity and in conjunction with perimeter protection of critical object, border protection. Using a 360° rotating radar adds an overview of the whole area.

The high update rate secures a reliable and timely situational picture. The radar sensor introduces a better possibility to conduct a behavior analysis by determining a target course, speed, and heading. This makes timely alarming and intervention possible. By introducing radar into a CCTV-based surveillance system, the workload of the operators decreases, gaining higher reaction readiness.
The radar is ideal to detect threats and movements in a large area. Combined with a camera, timely and snap identification of a target can be done with a minimum of interaction from the operator. In many scenarios, a single radar together with an advanced Pan Tilt Zoom Camera solution can actually do the surveillance job of large area as the camera is sleeved on to the target when the radar detects it. This is an alternative to a full CCTV-based surveillance system with numerous cameras. On top of this, the radars offer a true weather independence.
