Senior Systems Engineer

The Challenge

The Senior Systems Engineer will support the planning, management and direction of system engineering tasks. The Sr. Systems Engineer will participate in all required activities to include interfacing with stakeholders and in development of systems engineering plans and processes. Provide technical leadership in formulating requirements, and in identifying critical engineering requirements. The Sr.
Systems Engineer will participate in:

  • Architecture and requirements reviews
  • Peer reviews of work products derived from requirements specifications
  • Ensuring that the requirements are interpreted correctly
  • Enter and manipulate requirements stored in the DOORS requirements management tool

Job Requirements

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to generate and present briefing packages at formal customer events
  • Be prime point of contact for interfacing with customer to discuss /resolve technical issues and provide status
  • Manage requirements traceability information and track requirements status
  • Perform system integration, verification and validation
  • Evaluates alternatives including cost and risk
  • Manage system integration, verification and validation tasking
  • Support development of performance specifications by managing requirements in IBM Rational DOORS database tool
  • Create requirements traceability in DOORS database
  • Work with Integrated Product Teams, customers and end users to understand and document requirements compliance
  • Define interfaces between assigned system and sub-system components
  • Support development of trade studies to drive design decisions and document trade study results
  • Support documenting concept design decisions and support generating system design concept descriptions and capability assessments
  • Develop metrics to support systems engineering efforts
  • Interface with management to report status
  • Evaluate current procedures and practices to develop and implement improved procedures and practices
  • Evaluate test requirements for design verification and support the build and purchase of test station components

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • US Citizenship with an active security clearance
  • Must have experience as a EW Systems Engineering lead of projects with hardware and software components
  • Knowledge ofEW Self-Protection Systems (e.g. RWR, LWS, MWS) and performance
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required
  • Ten years' experience as an EW Systems Engineer, knowledgeable of integration of software, hardware, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with:   MS Office applications, to include MS Project
  • Knowledge of IBM Rational-DOORS

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Bachelor Degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to lead small working groups or program teams
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers as well as with team members in remote locations
  • Systems thinking skills (i.e., ability to work at detailed level but understand system level implications)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge necessary to write requirements specifications
  • Experience with development and execution of verification and validation procedures
  • Basic understanding of Software Security
  • Willingness to travel: I 0% CONUS and OCONUS
