Airbus and Terma join forces to strengthen Danish defence capabilities
Terma A/S and Airbus Helicopters announced the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) designed to significantly expand their long-standing industrial partnership. This strategic agreement paves the way for enhanced collaboration on several upcoming helicopter campaigns, while driving operational sovereignty and high-tech job creation in Denmark.
A Proven Track Record and Future-Facing Cooperation
The relationship between Airbus Helicopters and Terma is already backed by tangible, active cooperation. Joint projects are already underway, demonstrating both companies' ability to integrate Danish cutting-edge technology into global aerospace supply chains. Building on this strong foundation, the signed MoU establishes a list of projects for cooperation. These initiatives will focus on key areas of mutual interest:
- Advanced manufacturing (including composite and metal parts)
- The integration of critical systems such as Terma's Electronic Warfare Systems (EWS)
- Pioneering Research & Technology (R&T)
- Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO)
True Danish Autonomy via the Terma/KAMS Joint Venture
A cornerstone of the MoU is the focus on localized Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul capabilities to guarantee maximum operational readiness for the Danish Armed Forces. Specifically, both parties are exploring opportunities to perform aircraft and component MRO services, with technicians training solutions, through the newly launched Joint Venture between Terma and Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services (KAMS). This regional Nordic JV will get the capacity to act as a sovereign industrial maintenance hub, ensuring that Denmark establishes a self-reliant domestic support ecosystem.
"Our ongoing work with Airbus Helicopters has demonstrated the clear strength of this partnership," states Oscar Cosman Brøndum, Vice President for Partnerships & Industrial Cooperation at Terma. "Combining Airbus’s global reach with our specialised technologies and sovereign MRO infrastructure positions us to deliver unprecedented autonomy, technical capability, and sustainable industrial growth for Denmark and European security."
"Terma is a trusted partner of choice, and this MoU reflects our deep commitment to Denmark’s defense industry and the guidelines of the Danish Business Authority," said Thomas Hein, Head of Europe Region at Airbus Helicopters. "By leveraging our world-class rotorcraft platforms alongside Terma’s engineering capabilities and the new Terma/KAMS Joint Venture, we are strengthening local operational availability while embedding Danish innovation even deeper into our global supply network."
