Terma To Support ESA’s Harmony Mission Through New Partnerships

Terma to support the European Space Agency’s Harmony Mission – A cutting-edge initiative to advance our understanding of climate change and the Earth’s dynamic systems.

Harmony Mission 2000X1300

Terma is proud to announce new partnerships, signing contracts with European Prime Contractors to support the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Harmony mission, a cutting-edge initiative to advance our understanding of climate change and the Earth’s dynamic systems. Terma will deliver a SAR Electronics Subsystem EGSE, Remote Terminal Units,  Power Conditioning and Distribution Units and Power Check-out Equipment to the mission.

As part of this collaboration, Terma will deliver key technologies, including SAR Electronics Subsystem (SES) Electrical Ground Support Equipment  (EGSE), Remote Terminal Units (RTU), Power Conditioning and Distribution Units (PCDU) and Battery/Load Simulation/Check-out Equipment, essential for ensuring the satellite’s high reliability and mission success.

The Harmony mission is one of ESA’s Earth Explorer research missions, designed to address some of the most important challenges facing humanity today – such as food and water security, energy resources, public health, and the impacts of climate change. Harmony will be the first mission to deliver data that improve our understanding of air-sea interactions, as well as provide data on three-dimensional glacier flow dynamics, helping scientists more accurately predict rising sea levels and changes in Earth’s climate.

Harmony will fly two satellites in tandem formation with the Sentinel-1 radar satellite, applying novel observation methods to deliver insights into ocean dynamics, sea-ice movement, and glacier behavior – critical indicators of climate change.

We are proud to join this ambitious and important mission,” says Günther Lackner, Senior Vice President for Space at Terma, “Supporting the mission to better understand our planet’s climate system is not only an exciting technical challenge but also aligns with Terma’s commitment to contributing to a more sustainable future.”

This mission marks another important step in Europe’s Earth observation and showcases the value of international cooperation in addressing global challenges, and Terma is proud to be a part of these efforts.
