Terma is pleased to announce the delivery of new advanced defensive capabilities to the Franco-German Binational Air Transport Squadron (BATS), enhancing the protection of the Squadron’s fleet of C-130J-30 aircraft. This upgrade reinforces Terma’s commitment to providing scalable and adaptable protection solutions for allied air forces.

The core of the Aircraft Survivability Suite is Terma’s Defensive Aids Controller (DAC), which has been integral to the aircraft's defensive systems since its inaugural flight in 2021. At that time, Terma integrated the Missile Warning System (MWS) and countermeasures dispenser system. The integration of the Leonardo Miysis Directed Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM) system into the DAC will enhance the aircraft's ability to defend against infrared-guided missile threats. The DAC coordinates sensor inputs and automates countermeasure responses, ensuring real-time protection for aircrews.

Terma’s DAC is designed to be both sensor- and effector-agnostic, allowing for seamless integration of subsystems from various vendors. This modular approach provides air forces with the flexibility to upgrade their defensive systems as technologies evolve, and operational requirements change.

Terma’s priority is ensuring allied aircrews have the protection they need to complete their missions and return home safely,” said Dan Ulrich, Vice President of Self-Protection Systems at Terma. “We are proud to support the German Air Force with proven defensive solutions in close partnership with Lockheed Martin, delivering an integrated, low-risk capability built on trust and shared commitment to crew safety.

This upgrade enhances aircraft survivability while optimizing resource utilization in increasingly complex threat environments. Terma remains committed to delivering scalable protection solutions that meet the demands of current and future missions.
