Programmable Interference Blanker Unit
The Programmable Interference Blanker Unit (PIBU) is Terma’s solution for managing Radio Frequency (RF) interference on modern military aircraft.
As aircraft operate an increasing number of RF transmitters and receivers in close proximity, The PIBU provides prioritized blanking to prevent mutual interference and ensure reliable operation of mission-critical systems.
Combat proven and low-risk solution
Flexible and configurable architecture
Simple integration and operation
Benefit
Combat proven and low-risk solution
The PIBU has over two decades of proven performance and is operational on more than 1000 aircraft worldwide, including baseline on the Lockheed Martin C-130J and MH-60R Seahawk. The PIBU is also integrated and certified on AW/EH-101, Gulfstream G550, MQ-28, and F-5 platforms. The PIBU is designed for operational reliability and supports a two-level maintenance concept with Built-In Test (BIT) and discrete Go/No-Go failure indication.
Benefit
Flexible and configurable architecture
The PIBU features a highly configurable blanking architecture, allowing users to tailor inputs and outputs with respect to voltage levels and impedances. A programmable blanking matrix enables any input to be mapped to any output, while advanced time-domain pulse shaping allows precise control of blanking behavior to match system timing requirements. Up to 16 blanker configuration sets can be stored in the unit, supporting different aircraft variants or mission roles.
Benefit
Simple integration and operation
The PIBU is configured using the PIBU Support Software running on a standard laptop PC via a standard Ethernet interface. A modular hardware design allows customization of available blanker I/Os, while an FPGA-based architecture ensures low-latency performance and full programmability.
